Elden Ring Fans Have Invented A Holiday All About Killing Mohg

  • Finally, the release date for Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is set, with access through Miquella's hand.
  • Prepare for "Kill Mohg Day" on June 20, a unique holiday created by fans to slay Mohg before the DLC.
  • Fans are banding together to ensure that all players are ready for the challenge of accessing The Land of Shadows.

We finally know that Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is just a few months away, having gotten a release date earlier this week alongside a nifty gameplay trailer. After release, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki gave us a bunch of new information from a few different interviews, including the confirmation that the DLC will be accessed via Miquella's withered hand, as players had been speculating for months.

Miquella's body can be found in the boss arena in which you fight Mohg, Lord of Blood, and players will have to make sure they've killed Mohg (and Radahn for some reason) before they can access The Land of Shadows. It sounds simple on paper, but Mohg can be an absolute menace and a significant test of skill, meaning some people may even struggle to even access the DLC even though they have it.

Not to leave a fellow Tarnished behind, Elden Ring fans have invented a brand-new holiday to celebrate the upcoming release of Shadow of the Erdtree, that being the aptly named "Kill Mohg Day" on June 20. The idea was first put to the Elden Ring subreddit by IronFalcon1997, and will consist of a full day of murdering Mohg in preparation for the DLC's imminent arrival, giving everyone the chance to access The Land of Shadows at the same time.

Of course, not everyone will have a save in which Mohg is still alive, so another user called Iexsistright suggests that everyone who has already slayed the boss should place their summon signs at the entrance of the arena, and help others who may be struggling to take him down by themselves. Other fans are giving out tips, such as not to take on the challenge in New Game Plus as it can be brutal, and to potentially start a new character, so you're not too rusty when the DLC does drop.

With well over 6,000 upvotes and hundreds of other players dedicated to the cause, it feels like an idea that could actually pick up steam. It's very on-brand for the Elden Ring and Souls community at large to set up something like this, so make sure you mark your calendars, as we will need every soldier we can get to ensure that Kill Mohg Day is a success and there are no fellow Tarnished left behind.
